Sheria G. Robinson-Lane, PhD, RN is an assistant professor of nursing at the University of Michigan in the Department of Systems, Populations, and Leadership. As a gerontologist, Dr. Robinson-Lane has expertise in palliative care, long-term care, and nursing administration. She has focused her career on the care and support of older adults with cognitive and functional disabilities. Dr. Robinson-Lane is interested in the ways that older adults adapt to changes in health, and particularly how adaptive coping strategies effect health outcomes. Her research is focused on reducing health disparities for minority older adults with cognitive impairments and their informal caregivers. Dr. Robinson-Lane completed her PhD in nursing at Wayne State University and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan Medical School.
Current Work:
Sheria Robinson-Lane's current research asks how caregivers of Black older adults with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) use adaptive coping strategies to manage personal health and the inevitable stress of caregiving. Using a descriptive, prospective, study design she is developing a conceptual model that may be used to guide the development of sustainable, community-based, support programs for minority caregivers.
