About
Dr. Quenette L. Walton, AM, LCSW is an assistant professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. She has extensive experience working with low-income and underserved populations. Her research expertise focuses on building knowledge and developing theory that informs policies, practices, and culturally relevant and evidence-based interventions in order to reduce depression and increase wellness and well-being among middle-class Black women. Dr. Walton also focuses on social class as a social determinant of health and mental health disparities. She earned her BA from the University of Michigan and her master's in social work from the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy and Practice. She was awarded her PhD in social work from the University of Illinois at Chicago Jane Addams College of Social work. Dr. Walton also completed Postdoctoral training at UCLA.
Current Work:
Dr. Walton is currently working on two projects: (1) learning more in depth about middle-class Black women's experiences with COVID-19, racism, and mental health and (2) examining how middle-class Black women get well.
