Ryan A. Miller, PhD, is assistant professor of educational leadership and higher education program director at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His research interests include: (1) the experiences of minoritized social groups in higher education, with emphasis on identities of disability, sexuality, and gender, as well as intersecting social identities; and (2) the institutionalization of diversity and equity initiatives within colleges and universities.
Current Work:
Dr. Miller is currently engaged in a multiple case study of diversity course teaching that is part of required undergraduate general education programs at five colleges and universities in the Southeastern United States. The study explores teaching methods, course content, and student and instructor identities from the perspective of faculty members teaching required courses with diversity content. In addition, Dr. Miller is launching a study on the experiences of LGBTQIA+ students in STEM fields.
