Current Work:
Dr. Muñiz is a socio-legal scholar who focuses on critically examining educational equity for students who have experienced substantial adversity throughout their lives. Her research examines two broad areas: the implications of law and policies on the education system; and the use of social science evidence in the legal system and public policy decision-making process. In the past, her work has focused on the implications of laws and policies on vulnerable populations. To illustrate, Dr. Muñiz has examined the implications of the federal-level policy changes to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program on the experiences of DACA-recipient students in higher education. Most recently, she has collaborated with colleagues to examine the value of a legal education for Latinx students across differently ranked law schools. Her work has been supported by the AccessLex/AIR and Spencer Foundations.
