About
Dr. Hemphill originally hails from Chicago, but has made her current home in DC. She completed her undergraduate studies at Wesleyan University, receiving dual honors. Dr. Hemphill was a corps member of Teach for America from 2007 through 2009. Following TFA, she attended the University of Michigan and received her joint doctorate in political science and public policy in 2015. She worked on various presidential and secretarial initiatives as a presidential management fellow, recently converting a federal employee at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Field Policy and Management.
Current Work:
Dr. Hemphill's current research project focuses on various forms of media consumption consumed by marginalized youth in the digital age and the impact on levels of civic engagement and participation.
