Dr. OiYan Poon is a program officer at The Spencer Foundation. Prior to joining The Spencer Foundation staff, she was an associate professor of Higher Education Leadership and director of the Race & Intersectional Studies for Educational Equity (RISE) Center at Colorado State University and an assistant professor of Higher Education at Loyola University Chicago. She has also held a research associate position in the Institute for Asian American Studies at UMass Boston.
Current Work:
Dr. Poon is a lead co-author of amicus briefs written on behalf of social scientists supporting race-conscious admissions in SFFA v. Harvard. She is currently completing a book manuscript entitled Justice or Just Us: Asian Americans, Affirmative Action, and the Color-Line, which draws from an analysis of interviews with Asian American affirmative action supporters and opponents. OiYan is also currently working to complete a grant-funded study on how race-conscious holistic review works at highly selective postsecondary institutions.
