Research Investigator at Center for Innovation on Disability and Rehabilitation Research
About
Dr. Jordan graduated from the University of Florida in 2012. She is currently a research investigator at the Center for Innovation on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (CINDRR) at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. Her research on the disability experience seeks to alleviate family caregiver strain and remove the barriers that exclude people with disabilities from society. She also tests the most effective interventions for stressed family caregivers after the crisis of illness or disability. Dr. Jordan is one of the first scholars to explore transition to adulthood for young women with disabilities and chronic conditions.
Current Work:
Currently Dr. Jordan is focusing on the looming "care crisis" and the conceptualization of informal caregivers as an undocumented and invisible workforce. She is developing a community based participatory project that will help bring informal caregivers into the health care system in a formal capacity. She is also participating in a study that will identify the most stressful time points for multiple sclerosis, stroke, and Parkinson's caregiving. Finally, Dr. Jordan is evaluating the impact of paid informal care programs on military family relationships.
