Current Work:
Lora is collaborating on the National Center for Rural School Mental Health grant to increase the capacity of rural schools in Virginia to identify and respond to mental health issues in schools. She is currently training educators to implement a rural adaptation of the Coping Power intervention that provides social-emotional learning to students at both Tier 1 and 2. She is coaching teachers in implementation and gathering data to inform the final version of the intervention which will be evaluated in an RCT. She is also working with a team to translate Coping Power — Rural and another intervention, Double Check, into online modules that can be made easily accessible to educators in rural and remote areas.
Her own line of research focuses on adapting the Double Check professional development and coaching model for teachers of tribal students. Double Check focuses on increasing teacher culturally responsive teaching practices and improving classroom behavior management skills.
