About
Dr. Lisa M. Martinez was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, and is the first in her family to receive a graduate degree. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Texas, I entered the PhD program at the University of Arizona, also in Sociology. For the majority of my career, I have been employed at the University of Denver where my areas of expertise inc immigration, racial/ethnic politics, Latina/o sociology, and social inequality.
Current Work:
Dr. Lisa M. Martinez is currently working on a book manuscript, We Have a Dream: Undocumented Youth and the Politics of Immigration Reform (NYU Press). The book examines the effect of federal and state level reforms —namely, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and in-state tuition — on the educational, occupational, and political trajectories of undocumented youth living in Colorado.
