About
Dr. Brown's research takes a fresh approach to examining race/ethnic differences in late life health and wellbeing. Her work aims to characterize not only the unique challenges minorities face in reaching old age (including disability, disease, and consequences of adversity), but also examines and fosters methods that embolden the positive outcomes and protective resources gained from adverse experiences among minority communities.
Current Work:
Currently, Dr. Brown is training to conduct independent research projects that thoughtfully integrate race/ethnicity, ancestry, and genetics, with a particular interest in the epigenetics of aging. Her long term goal is to increase minority representation in genomics research, recognizing that the inclusion of diverse populations is essential to fully understand the role human genetic variation has on health and disease.
