Lata Murti is an associate professor of sociology at Brandman University. The recipient of Brandman’s 2015 Outstanding University Faculty of the Year Award, she has received recognition for both her pedagogy and her publications from organizations such as the National Institute of Learning Outcomes Assessment, the National Center for Institutional Diversity, and Universal Publishers’ Dissertation.com, which selected her dissertation on the racial experience of Indian immigrant doctors for its 2015 Annual Excellence Award. She has presented at numerous conferences related to teaching and sociology, in addition to publishing on these topics for several peer-reviewed journals, the SAGE Research Methods Cases collection, Asian American Society: An Encyclopedia, and the Work in Progress blog of the American Sociological Association.
Current Work:
Dr. Murti's current research projects explore various aspects of teaching and pedagogy from a sociological perspective, including effective techniques for teaching globalization online and educators’ experiences of intersectionality in a variety of instructional settings and formats.
