About
José Sanabria is a communication professional with more than fifteen years of combined professional experience in the fields of public relations, public affairs, international development, lobbying and education. His interest in history led him to begin PhD studies in Puerto Rican and Caribbean History. He expects to finish his studies in 2018.
As an educator at the University of the Sacred Heart in Puerto Rico, professor Sanabria has the opportunity to teach at one of the most renowned communication departments in Puerto Rico. Although he is an expert in the communication field, professor Sanabria's interest in the US relationship with Puerto Rico has led him to conduct research on the historical processes that shaped the political, economic, and social aspects of this relationship.
His earlier professional career includes experience with the development of multi-cultural public affairs campaigns aimed at providing educational and financial opportunities to US Hispanics.
Professor Sanabria received his master's degree in public relations from Syracuse University, and his bachelor's in political science from the University of Puerto Rico.
Current Work:
Professor Sanabria is currently working on the early stages of research that analyzes the power relationship between different segments of the Puerto Rican population during the early 20th century. Particular emphasis is given to crime as a form of ressistance during that era.
