Dr. Jessica DeCuir-Gunby is a Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education. Formerly, she served as faculty at NC State University for nearly 20 years. She is an American Psychological Association Fellow for Division 15 (Educational Psychology) and was recently elected Vice President of Division 15, which is in the presidential line.
Current Work:
Dr. DeCuir-Gunby's program of research focuses on three areas: (1) race and racial identity (including Critical Race Theory); (2) mixed methods research; and (3) emotions in education. She explores how issues of race and racism, often using a critical race theory lens, impact African Americans across the lifespan and in various educational contexts. Her current research examines African American students' and faculty members' experiences with racial microaggressions within college contexts.
