Jan E. Estrellado, PhD is an assistant professor at Alliant International University, San Diego. Dr. Estrellado is a licensed clinical psychologist whose research focuses on the intersections of race, ethnicity, and trauma in therapy settings. She is specifically interested in examining clinicians' competencies treating people of color who are also trauma survivors. Dr. Estrellado's clinical work focuses broadly on issues related to multiculturalism and social justice, and specifically to sexual orientation, gender identity, race and ethnicity, as well as anxiety disorders, depression, trauma recovery, and severe mental illness. She was a Leadership Fellow with the Asian American Psychological Association and is also a consultant to the Avellaka Program, a federally funded anti-violence program serving the La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians.
Current Work:
Dr. Estrellado's scholarship broadly focuses on issues related to multicultural psychology, trauma psychology, and training and supervision. Specifically, Dr. Estrellado is interested in the experiences that trauma survivors, especially people of color, face in therapy settings. Dr. Estrellado's research aims to benefit settings that train developing therapists.
