Iesha Jackson is an assistant professor of teacher education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She received her EdD in curriculum and instruction from Teachers College, Columbia University where she focused on urban and multicultural education. Her research centers on examining methods to improve educational outcomes for students of color in urban schools. In order to address this, her work is situated in four main areas: student voice; culturally relevant and sustaining pedagogies; teacher education; and equity based, macro-level education policies.
Current Work:
Presently, Iesha Jackson is preparing manuscripts from her dissertation, which focused on the schooling experiences of overage, under-credited Black students in a New York City transfer high school. This work adds to the literature on culturally relevant adult education as well as secondary teacher education.
