Elías Krell joined the faculty of the Women's Studies Program at Vassar College on a postdoctoral fellow through the Consortium for Faculty Diversity in 2014. Krell received a PhD in performance studies and graduate certificate in gender & sexuality studies from Northwestern University in June 2014. They are beginning a tenure-track position in women's studies at Vassar College in Fall 2017.
Current Work:
Dr. Krell's current book manuscript centers the singing voice as a sonic lens for the performance practices of contemporary transgender musicians in Canada and the US. They have published in the Queer/Trans special Issue of the Journal of Popular Music Studies (2013), Text & Performance Quarterly (2015), Trans Bodies/Trans Selves (Oxford University Press 2014), and has essays forthcoming in the Oxford Handbook of Voice Studies (2015), and other scholarly journals, encyclopedias, and edited volumes.
