Elena Foulis is a student-centered educator with over 15 years of experience in higher education. She holds BA and MA degrees in Spanish and Latin American literature and a PhD in comparative literature and cultural studies. Dr. Foulis is working on a digital oral history project about Latin@s in Ohio, which is being archived at the Center for Folklore Studies' internet collection. She is also host and producer of the Ohio Habla podcast, an extension of her oral history project.
Current Work:
Dr. Foulis' current research stems from her interest in Latino presence in the Midwest, and it is an extension of her interest in documenting Latino life. Since 2014, she has directed an oral history project that addresses an essential need to document the Latino experience, in English and Spanish, and to serve as evidence of the impact of Latinos in Ohio. Dr. Foulis is also involved in digital humanities projects, Spanish for heritage speakers, and service-learning research.
