Dr. Desiree Zerquera is assistant professor in the Department of Leadership Studies in the School of Education at the University of San Francisco. She received her doctorate in higher education and student affairs from Indiana University in 2014 and minored in public policy. Prior to her appointment as a faculty member, Dr. Zerquera held a variety of positions in higher education and student affairs, including working in policy advocacy, institutional research and planning, university administration, and multicultural affairs.
Current Work:
Dr. Zerquer'as research centers on the ways access and opportunity are structured by policies and decisions made at the federal, state, and institutional levels. At current, she has several research streams that examine this topic. The first examines stratification of access across higher education, as influenced by prestige. The second considers how urban institutions uphold their missions while navigating tensions in their environment and collaborating to leverage their collective power.
