Assistant Professor of Social Neuroscience at the University of Delaware
About
Dr. Forbes is a first generation college student who received his BA in psychology from Long Beach State University and his PhD in social neuroscience from the University of Arizona in 2009. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship in cognitive neuroscience at the National Institutes of Health, he accepted an assistant professor position at the University of Delaware in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. Dr. Forbes was recently elected as a fellow in the Society of Experimental Social Psychology and recognized as a "Rising Star" by the American Psychological Association.
Current Work:
Dr. Forbes is currently investigating a multi-pronged approach that aims to alter psychological and neural factors that otherwise undermine the academic engagement of stigmatized individuals in high school and undergraduate students in STEM domains.
