Ashley Arnio is an assistant professor in the School of Criminal Justice at Texas State University. Her research interests are primarily in the areas of communities and crime and law and social control. Her work in these areas has led to studies examining the causes and consequences of the contemporary housing crisis, community predictors of police response, and aggregate-level racial disparities in imprisonment rates during the period of mass incarceration.
Current Work:
Professor Arnio's scholarly focus is in the areas of communities and crime and law and social control in which she frames most of her research around the following question: What factors can explain the spatial distribution of crime and socio-legal control across communities? She has examined this question using neighborhood, city, and county data to explain patterns in crime (street crimes and mortgage fraud) and criminal justice response (including police behavior and the use of imprisonment).
