Dr. Apryl Alexander is an associate professor in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of Denver. She recently received the 2019 APA Early Career Award for Outstanding Contributions to Benefit Children, Youth, and Families and the 2020 Michele Alexander Early Career Award for Scholarship and Service from the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI). Dr. Alexander is also an organizer with Black Lives Matter 5280.
Current Work:
Inspired by her years of providing trauma-based treatment to child and adolescent victims of sexual violence, much of Dr. Alexander's research centers on examining outcomes related to childhood maltreatment in adolescents in the general population, juvenile justice-involved adolescents, and emerging adults. Additionally, she has several projects in the works related to popular culture and media.
