Angela Novak, PhD, is an assistant professor of education at East Carolina University. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in education, assessment, and gifted education. Angela has served the National Association of Gifted Children in a variety of roles, including as the co-chair of the Diversity and Equity Committee. She has published articles, a book chapter, and presented at state, national, and international conferences on the topic of equity in gifted education.
Current Work:
Dr. Angela Novak researches diversity and equity in gifted education. One such focus is professional learning; she both conducts research and training on topics in cultural responsiveness and giftedness. Angela also presents at state, national, and international conferences on social justice themes in gifted education; these presentations range from identification to parents and community. She is currently creating an instrument for gifted professional learning and researching the role of play in gifted education and the impact of diversity training on gifted identification.
