Current Work:
Dr. Meca's research has focused on identity development across various domains (i.e., ethnic/racial, academic, military, and parental identity) and on the links between identity and psychosocial functioning and health risk behaviors. Although Dr. Meca's research has focused on identity development broadly, the majority of his research has focused on cultural identity development and acculturation among ethnic/racial minority adolescence and emerging adulthood, particularly within Hispanic/Latinx populations. His current work is specifically focused on understanding biculturalism and the processes underlying how immigrant youth navigate their cultural streams.
