About
Wunpini Fatimata Mohammed is an assistant professor of global media at the University of Georgia. She is co-editor of the book, African Women in Digital Spaces: Redefining Social Movements on the Continent and in the Diaspora (forthcoming 2022). Her research which focuses on feminisms, decolonization, broadcast media and development communication have appeared in several reputable media and communications journals. She has won top paper awards at the International Communication Association (ICA), the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). She is currently a Lilly teaching fellow (2021-2023) and was selected as a Kopenhaver fellow in August 2021. She has worked as a radio journalist in Ghana for several years and has done some public scholarship on Al Jazeera, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Global Voices, Okay Africa, and several Ghanaian media platforms.
Current Work:
Dr. Mohammed is co-editor of the book African Women in Digital Spaces: Redefining Social Movements on the Continent and in the Diaspora (forthcoming 2022). She currently working on a series of articles on decolonization, feminisms in Ghana, media studies pedagogy and communication for social change. She is also working on a book manuscript that focuses on media development and social change.
