Dr. Sydney Richardson has devoted over seventeen years to Higher Education. She has served at various institutions as a writing center director and English Instructor, assistant professor of education, dean of adult education, and dean of College and Career Readiness. Dr. Richardson is now an associate professor and department chair of leadership studies and adult education at North Carolina A&T State University. Her research focuses on areas of diversity and access within women and gender studies, as well as education. Dr. Richardson received a BA in political science from UNCG, an MA in english and African American lit. from North Carolina A&T, and a PhD in educational leadership and cultural studies, with a specialization in women and gender studies from UNCG.
Current Work:
Dr. Richardson's scholarship deals with access, race, gender, and class within the educational system, as well as within African-American women's lives. The part of her research deals with what self-leadership looks like within women's lives.
