About
In Dr. Omogun's own words,
"I am an artist, scholar, creative writer and educator. Raised between my Nigerian and African American cultures, my hybrid identity is reflected in my work that focuses on Black African immigrant youth. Across all of my roles, my core mission remains the same -- shifting static ideas about identity, culture, and language."
Current Work:
Dr. Omogun's research explores the role of language, literacy, including digital literacies, in Black African immigrant youth identity constructions and negotiations across school, community, and digital spaces. She pays particular attention to the intersection of racialization and socialization processes that influence the identities that Black African immigrant youth construct through their respective languages and literacies.
