Janeria Easley is an assistant professor in the Department of African American Studies. She received her BA in Sociology and English from Duke University. She received her PhD in Sociology, with a concentration in Demography, from Princeton University.
Current Work:
Easley's research and teaching specialties are: Racial and Ethnic Relations, Demography, Social Stratification, and Urban Studies. Her research advances the understanding of racial stratification in two broad areas. First, she interrogates the role of space in creating and maintaining said stratification. Key sub-areas include residential segregation, gentrification, and the built environment. Second, she examines racial disparities in economic well being related to employment, wealth, and homeownership. She completed a Vice Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
