Associate Director
About
Dr. Marie P. Ting earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in higher education from the University of Michigan (U-M), and her doctorate in higher education policy and leadership from the University of Maryland, College Park. She currently serves as the associate director at the U-M's National Center for Institutional Diversity (NCID).
As associate director, Marie has responsibilities related to leadership, management, and strategy development. She provides general oversight for assigned aspects of the daily operations of the unit, ensuring compliance with university policies and represents the director in providing day to day guidance and support for the staff. Marie assists the director in the development of short and long range vision for the department as well as budget development and management. She also works to develop, nurture and maintain local and national partners including higher education administrators, faculty and associations and offers direct liaison with a wide number of U-M units. Marie assists in the development of an engaged learning environment for center professional and student staff, fostering an environment that is conducive to both professional and personal growth.
Prior to her current role, Marie worked at U-M units including the Center for Educational Outreach (CEO) and the Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives (OAMI). She has also served as the university director of student affairs and special programs at the City University of New York (CUNY) system office and also held positions in both academic and student affairs at the University of Maryland, College Park.
