The National Center for Institutional Diversity (NCID) represents a commitment by the University of Michigan (U-M) to affirm the central value and undeniable importance of institutional diversity to the mission of all colleges and universities. Our vision requires that we organize knowledge, build tools, and inspire courage to vigorously advance a commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equity in higher education and US society.
The NCID seeks a scholar and community engagement program lead to manage the development and execution of initiatives and events that support the NCID’s efforts to engage our scholarly community including faculty (within and external to the U-M), scholars-in-residence, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. This will include managing the national Diversity Scholars Network (DSN); developing and coordinating programmatic and evaluative elements of the DSN; framing and planning national and local events focused on building and enhancing scholar engagement and connections to NCID. The program lead will also manage NCID’s Emerging Diversity Scholars Network (EDSN), a professional development network for graduate students who have demonstrated a commitment or have contributed to diversity research and scholarship.
We are especially interested in candidates who have strong organizational and program development skills, and who have experience with higher education policy and research. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse backgrounds. We seek a creative, hardworking colleague with strong problem-solving abilities, initiative, and a commitment to customer service who shares our passion for the vision and goals of NCID and its local and national leadership agenda.
