The Sociological Studies of American Indians website is devoted to studying American Indians from sociological and related perspectives. We consider any of the broad and diverse topics of sociology to be within the purview of the website, but our current work is focused on three broad areas:

  1. Data and Methods
  2. Schools, School Attainment, and Literacy
  3. Identity, Language Use, and Naming Patterns

Although our time perspective includes both the past and the present, our current emphasis is on historical materials. We take national perspectives as well as regional and local ones.

Our goal is to share our research and to solicit comments, criticisms, and suggestions to improve and enrich our research products. We plan to share our work at multiple steps in the research process, with invitations for readers to provide feedback.
