A Series on Indigenous Ecology of Hawaiian Hula Arts

The University of Michigan Asian/Pacific Islander American Studies Program (within the Department of American Culture) is pleased to present Kekuhi Kealiikanakaoleohaililani and Kaumakaiwa Kanaka?ole as King/Chavez/Parks Visiting Professors.

All events are free and open to the public. The schedule is as follows:

Description:  Hula is truly a global phenomenon, with more than 2,000 schools in Japan alone, as well as schools in the continental U.S., Mexico, Holland, Germany, and the Pacific. This presentation will focus on the social, ecological, psychological and spiritual aspects of hula and how and why we think it is the phenomenon it is.
