Participants in MSC can take advantage of:
- A community of students interested in sustainability
- Mentorship from returning students
- Access to community kitchens
- MSC programs, events, trips, and funding opportunities
- A unique location in a wooded residential area across the street from the Nichols Arboretum
Leadership opportunities with MSC include:
- Developing sustainability pilots and projects
- Increased ownership of their living space to make it more sustainable
- Promoting the three pillars of sustainability: Environment, Equity/Ethics and Economics
- Development of personal and civic responsibility in shaping a more vibrant planet and future
- Exploration of the ways sustainability ties into academic and career interests
- Returning as a Peer Mentor which is a paid position
MSC requirements include:
- Living in MSC designated halls at Oxford Houses
- Taking the MSC seminar both fall and winter semesters which is a required 2 credit course each semester
- Contribute to an inclusive community environment welcoming of all participants and their diverse identities
MSC students are also given the oppurtunity to:
- Participate in community-wide welcome activities at the start of each semester.
- Be an active member of the community by participating in MSC sponsored programs and events (once per month is the minimum).
- Design and plan MSC projects and activities
- Play a role in building a sustainable community and sustainability projects at MSC.
