Instead of going somewhere fun and relaxing for spring break, a group of MCSP students took part in the annual Alternative Spring Break, projects revolving around service and volunteer work across the country at different locations. An MCSP team, led by student leader Lindsay Lore, went down to Texas to volunteer for the week off. Here's a blurb from the team, and some photos of their trip!
Michigan Active Citizens Alternative Spring Break, or MAC-ASB, sends MCSP students to work with innovative nonprofits every year! Connect with an organization, travel to a new place within the U.S., and meet new friends on the MCSP ASB trip. This year we visited Camp for All in Burton, Texas, a community-oriented camp that provides barrier-free activities to kids of all abilities, such as high ropes courses, horse back riding, and media production. Through working with the camp and the kids, we engaged with the topic of healthcare and disabilities and discovered how we can be more active citizens in our communities. More information on Camp for All can be found here. Thinking about ASB for next year? Learn more or apply to be a site leader using this link!
