The Department of Mathematics is pleased to receive a gift from the estate of alumnus James Van Loo (BS 1967) that will support various initiatives in the area of Applied Mathematics.  The funds will be used within the department in the following areas:

The James Van Loo Post-Doctoral Fellowship, to fund fellows who conduct interdisciplinary research and teaching in Applied Mathematics and another academic department.

The James Van Loo Symposium Fund, to help undergraduate, graduate or post-doctoral students in Applied Mathematics to attend national conferences or symposia for collaborative research.

The James Van Loo Applied Mathematics and Physics Undergraduate Support Fund will support undergraduate students conducting interdisciplinary research with faculty from Applied Mathematics and another academic department.

The Van Loo Family Fund for Mathematics Education, to support training and activities for post-doctoral faculty, graduate and undergraduate students involved in math education, development of new courses, and revision of curricula.
