Discrete surfaces from dimer coverings and Kasteleyn's theorem
Wednesday, September 21, 2022

We first set up some preliminaries on graph homology and explain how to generate a discrete surface from a dimer covering. Then we prove Kasteleyn's theorem, which expresses the partition function of a planar dimer model as a determinant. Speaker(s): Yibo Gao (University of Michigan)
