A cluster algebra is a commutative ring built out of some combinatorial data. In this talk, we will give an introduction to cluster algebras from a commutative algebra perspective. After giving the necessary definitions, we will look at some examples, both well-behaved and pathological. Finally, we will introduce locally acyclic cluster algebras and discuss their algebraic properties. Speaker(s): Anna Brosowsky (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor)
