While the dynamics of quadratic polynomials have been studied extensively, much remains unexplored for cubic polynomials. I will discuss the geometry and dynamics of loci of cubic polynomials defined by asserting the existence of a cycle with a given period and multiplier. As we shall see, these loci have nontrivial topology, and the corresponding maps exhibit interesting dynamics, particularly for multipliers outside the unit disk. Speaker(s): Danny Stoll (U(M))
