Cyclic covers in algebraic geometry
Friday, October 16, 2020
3:00-4:00 PM

A cyclic covering is a covering space for which the set of covering transformations forms a cyclic group. I'll talk about how to construct such covers in AG and as an application, I'll go over the nice cyclic cover argument in the proof of the Kawamata--Viehweg vanishing theorem. The first half of the talk will be accessible to anyone currently taking Math 631. Speaker(s): Sridhar Venkatesh
