Student Commutative Algebra Seminar

Cox rings and Mori dream spaces
Tuesday, March 26, 2019
3:00-3:50 PM
3866 East Hall Map
We will present the definitions, basic properties and examples of Cox rings and Mori dream spaces. The multigraded algebras called Cox rings generalize the homogeneous coordinate rings of projective spaces to algebraic varieties with a finitely generated divisor class group. Projective varieties with a finitely generated Cox ring are called Mori dreams spaces and they enjoy many of the nice finiteness properties of toric varieties.
