Teichmueller spaces are complex manifolds
Tuesday, March 26, 2019
3:00-4:00 PM
1866 East Hall Map
Given a closed oriented surface S, the Teichmueller space T(S) of S parametrizes (with some redundancy) the collection of Riemann surfaces homeomorphic to S. By a construction of Bers, T(S) is a complex manifold. I will discuss an analytic approach to the construction of Teichmueller spaces, and then outline Bers' system of holomorphic coordinate charts on T(S). No background in Teichmueller theory will be assumed. Speaker(s): Bradley Zykoski (University of Michigan)
