The tautological ring
Thursday, December 6, 2018
3:00-4:00 PM

Let M_g be the moduli space of Riemann surfaces of genus g. The tautological ring is a subring of the rational cohomology of M_g that was introduced by Mumford in the 1980s in analogy with the cohomology of Grassmannians. I will discuss what is now known (or still unknown) about the structure of this ring. Speaker(s): Aaron Pixton (MIT)
