Student Homotopy Theory Seminar

Topological Hochschild homology and topological cyclic homology
Thursday, November 8, 2018
1:00-2:30 PM
2866 East Hall Map
I will describe the invariants known as topological Hochschild homology and topological cyclic homology, the homotopy theoretic, or derived, analogues of Hochschild homology and cyclic homology; I will describe them both from the viewpoint of Bokstedt-Hsiang-Madsen/Connes and Nikolaus-Scholze. I will describe their relation to K-theory via maps known as trace maps. Finally, I will describe how one can calculate the topological Hochschild homology of HF_p.
