The iteration of complex functions gives a way of associating to certain rational maps a torus with marked points. In this talk, we see how this association comes about, and we explore the following question: If you continuously vary such a rational map, how does that change the associated torus? No complex dynamics background will be assumed. Speaker(s): Jasmine Powell (University of Michigan)
