Ph.D. Programs

Doctoral programs in the Department of Mathematics include the following major milestones:

  1. Qualifying Review Examinations
  2. Coursework
  3. Finding an Advisor(s)
  4. Preliminary Exam
  5. Research
  6. Writing of Dissertation
  7. Oral Defense of Dissertation

Successful completion of a Ph.D. in Applied and Interdisciplinary Mathematics or Mathematics can lead to rigorous and rewarding positions in academia and/or industry.  A list of recent Ph.D. recipients and their first employment positions can be found here.
