Why did you want to become a Student Assistant? I chose to return to LSWA as a SA because I wanted to give back to the community that welcomed me my first year. The SA's I met my first year were helpful and nice which inspired me to do the same to incoming students. They were there to answer any questions I had to the best of their ability. Also, I love the Alice Lloyd building because there are so many spaces for creativity such as the art studio and the practice rooms. I believe this new leadership role will allow me to guide incoming students to make the most of their freshman year as I did.

What hopes do you have for the upcoming year? I look forward to exploring more of our beautiful campus which will allow me to make more connections with people outside my major. I hope to see more musicals and even audition for some. I want to continue to step outside of my comfort zone. This upcoming year I will dive deeper into my Film major. Overall, I hope to sustain my work and social life.

What would you say to future LSWA students? Frankly, you won't make any friends if you stay in your room. I did this for the first couple of months, yet I wondered why I hadn't made long-term connections. That doesn't mean you should give in to peer pressure, but to take steps outside your comfort zone. A nice step is going to LSWA events. I met some of my friends at meetings and recreational events. Once you understand that everyone has the same anxieties about meeting new people as you do, it will be a bit easier to make friends.
