LSWA values its partnership with the University Musical Society (UMS) as Lloyd Scholars often get to attend live performances as part of a course or as an all-community opportunity. 

This fall, the entire LSWA community will be attending A Man of Good Hope. 

UMS describes Jonny Steinberg’s A Man of Good Hope as "the riveting true story of a Somali refugee with a painful past, miraculous good luck, and a brilliant head for business, told through roof-lifting songs and dance accompanied on marimbas."

Students have received the excerpt of Jonny Steinberg's A Man of Good Hope to read before Aug. 29. During the Summer Read discussions, students will meet their instructors and classmates for the Fall term.
