Graduate Student Researcher Focused on Water Protection, Fish and Engaging Families in Northern Michigan

The Project CLEAR (Community and Lakes Environmental Awareness and Research) Fund Fellowship began as a student-led project conducted from 1977-81 at the University of Michigan Biological Station (UMBS) in northern Michigan.

Today, CLEAR Fellows work as spring/summer interns for the Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council—a nonprofit organization based in Petoskey that is dedicated to protecting Michigan’s lakes, streams, wetlands, and groundwater through its work on local watershed issues, as well as state, federal, and binational policy—while simultaneously taking classes at UMBS for either the Spring or Summer Session.

Members of the 1977-81 student project team generously provided funding to establish this fellowship. You can make a gift to support the CLEAR Fund.
