Empowerment Self-Defense Program

with Candace Dorsey
Monday, September 24, 2018
2:00-4:00 PM
Conference Room 2001 LSA Building Map
This session is dedicated exclusively to LSA Staff

What you'll learn:
This self-defense workshop takes a holistic approach to self-defense, emphasizing awareness and assertiveness skills as well as physical and verbal strategies to counter violence. The goal is to leave you better equipped to deal with everything from harassment to potentially violent people to sexual assault. You will be armed with options to physically defend yourself in the event that unforeseen, dangerous circumstances arise.

Who this class is for:
This is not a martial arts course and all LSA Staff are welcome to attend, no matter your fitness level or experience with self-defense skills.

What to bring and wear:
Attendees should wear comfortable workout clothing and gym shoes.
We recommend bringing a water bottle. Water to fill up your bottle will be available at the session.
Trainer: Candace Dorsey, Empowerment Self-Defense Program Manager, U-M Division of Public Safety and Security

Sponsor: The LSA Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Culture Office

Please note: This session has a capacity of 18 participants and requires a minimum of 12 participants to be held. If fewer than 12 people have registered the day before the session is scheduled to occur, the session will be cancelled. We will send notice of cancellation 24 hours in advance and let you know when another session on the same topic has been scheduled.
