Working with the Minority Health and Health Disparities International Research Training program, LSA student Iqra Nasir photographed this young girl in the Omnogovi province of Mongolia, where her family was part of a study researching the health effects of toxic metals in well water.
Kevin Chung, an LSA International Studies major, spent six weeks studying in Copenhagen and getting to know the city. “Exploring the eclectic parks and public spaces in the Nørrebro neighborhood of Copenhagen,” he says, “I found these vivid murals illustrate and communicate the dynamic area’s identity.”
Man Kuan Lei, a 2014 International Institute Summer in South Asia Fellow, spent her summer in Dharamsala, India, and had a chance to visit the Himalayas. “At 10,000 feet,” she says, “you’ll only find yourself at the foothills of these great mountains.”

LSA student Shelby Chaney explains that each of these ribbons attached to the gate of the Church of Nosso Senhor do Bonfim in Salvador, Brazil, represents prayers for love, peace, or something positive.
LSA Ph.D. student Farida Begum photographed these goddess sculptures central to major religious festivals in West Bengal. Sculptors begin with clay (as seen above), and the sculptures are then painted and dressed with clothing and jewelry. 
Working with Waste Warriors, an NGO addressing India's garbage problem, Man Kuan Lei celebrated World Environment Day at two primary schools. “While the children were learning about saving our environment,” she recalls, “we learned from their the enthusiasm and excitement.”
