The first of three panels will address early poetry at U-M, Frost, and the legacy left by Avery Hopwood, the founder of the prestigious campus literary prize bearing his name. Panelists include Nicholas Delbanco, Paul Dimond, and Donald Sheehy. All panels will be followed by a question and answer session.

The second panel will examine the literary accomplishments of midcentury poets like W. H. Auden, Ted Roethke, Robert Hayden, Joseph Brodsky, and Czeslaw Milosz. Panelists include Laurence Goldstein, X.J. Kennedy, and Thomas Lynch.

The final panel, consisting of contemporary poets Tarfia Faizullah, Vievee Francis, and Laura Kasischke, will read from their own works.

The symposium will also debut an original short film about Robert Frost’s lasting impact, not only on Michigan but also the Nation.
